Best Anime To Watch This Summer

Summers are here and everyone tends to run out of things to do later or sooner. Anime are an excellent cure for boredom. Anime are Japanese cartoons in simple terms, but rest assured, I am not pushing you for Tom and Jerry. Anime are pretty serious stuff and have various genres. They can range from thrillers to drama and to the much famous theme; Martial arts, ninja, shounin or whatever you'd like to call it
Many people don't understand Japanese, but that doesn't deprive them of all the fun. Anime can be dubbed or subbed in English too. Many popular anime have been translated into multiple languages. Speaking of popular anime, here are some you wouldn't want to miss:

Death Note

Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata created this ever popular manga and it was animated by Madhouse. Suspense and thrill are just the beginnings. The theme is that Death Gods or Shinigami live up in the heavens and are responsible for taking the life of the humans who must die due to reasons like crimes, old age, disease etc. Death Gods have a special type of notebook called the Death Note. If a person's name is written in the Death Note, he/she dies. Knowing the name and face of the person is necessary, that's the condition. The time and scenario for the victim's death can also be prescribed. A Death God by the name of Ryuk accidentally drops his Death Note and it lands in the hands of Yagami Light. Yagami Light is a very bright student and is first reluctant to use this weapon like notebook, but he finally gives in and is mesmerized by it's power. He forms a plan to eradicate all criminals and to make the world a perfect mythical place called Utopia.The Interpol get suspicious of the deaths and hire the world famous prodigy, a detective by the name of "L". He gives the killer the name of "Kira", which in Japanese means killer and starts picking up Yagami Light's trail. What follows is anyone's guess. A second Kira resurfaces and both join hands after a while, but detective L is also very smart and they eventually have to give up on their ownership of the Death Note. What follows next is better know by watching the anime itself.

The anime is short, doesn't have too many episodes and the soundtrack keeps your spine chilling all the time. The animation is great. The story is beyond great. This series is exceptional and will keep you in a trance.

Code Geass

Conspiracy, strategy and suspense. This is another famous anime series and many argue that it outsmarts Death Note. I wouldn't say so, but that's just an opinion. Britain is a superpower and dominates most of the world. They rule over Japan and have renamed it to Area 11, depriving the Japanese of their identity. The British have robot like machines called KnightMares and the Japanese stand no chance. Lelouch is a British student in Area 11, is very smart and an expert tactician. He likes to play chess and is always up for a challenge, he plays chess with nobles and ministers. One such noble had never been defeated before and is humiliated at his defeat. He captures Lelouch and plans to kill him. Fortunately Karen, the Japanese Resistance Movement's active member is also there and her aides come to her rescue. Lelouch sees the opportunity and flees, he soon meets a girl by the name of "CC" and the escape starts. The British KnightMares soon arrive and it's a ruckus. Lelouch and CC run off and Lelouch tries to seek the attention of British KnightMares, saying that he's a British student. To his shock, The KnightMares don't take this into consideration and try to kill him. CC gets shot and all horrors become alive for Lelouch. Their hands touch and CC asks Lelouch to enter into a contract with her. He accepts and special powers are transferred to him. He now has the Geass, the special eye from the heavens which amazing powers. Lelouch can bend the will of anyone and force him/her to do whatever he desires, that's his Geass, but it can only be done on a person once. He joins the Resistance Movement under a disguise and is soon their hero, they call him Zero.

Code Geass has 2 seasons, the 2nd is called Code Geass: Lelouch Of The Rebellion. It is a continuation of the first season and many more Geass users appear. Lelouch's best friend is now the princess's Knight and his arch enemy. What is this Geass? Where did so many Geass users come from? Why is the British Emperor rumored to be immortal? You'll have to watch the anime for that.

Fairy Tail

This is my favorite, I don't know why. Aside from the common people, magicians, speaking cats called Exceeds and Magical beasts reside in the world. Earth has ten kingdoms and one such kingdom is the kingdom of Fiore. These magicians form clans called guilds and take up missions too difficult for the common folk and earn their bread. They are quite loved. One such guild is the "Fairy Tail". It is the best guild in Fiore and has many amazing wizards, one such wizard is Natsu "The Salamander" Dragneel. He was raised by the king of fire dragons, Igneel, and admits him to be his father. He was taught a special type of magic by Igneel, the Dragon Slaying Magic. Dragon slayers are a class of wizards who have been raised and taught by the now rumored to be extinct dragons. They are feared to be so powerful that they are called Dragon Slayers, capable of slaying Dragons. Dragons possess fearsome magic an
d are practically unbeatable. Natsu Dragneel joins Fairy Tail and soon everyone is curious of the Fire Dragon's son. He is very noisy and at times, very stupid too. He makes a lot of friends, the dearest of whom are the Ice Wizard Grey Fullbuster and the Celestial Spirit Wizary Lucy Heartfilia. Also the legendary Fairy Tail wizard Gildarts mentors him and they enjoy a father-son relationship. Natsu also has an Exceed by the name of Happy and together they go on many adventures. The story later reveals Dark Guilds, Demons, Dragons and the Dark Magician Zeref. The manga is ongoing and simply enthralling.

Naruto

Many would already be familiar with this popular anime. It's manga is even more popular and tells the story of an orphan by the name of Naruto. Chakra, the Japanese word for special energy, can be synced with the nature's elements and different types of Ninjutsu can be created. Ninjas use other types of warfare known as Genjutsu, the illusions and Taijutsu, the pure martial arts. Ninjas can specialize in one form of Jutsu or mix multiple Jutsus. Kingdoms and villages are classified by the type of Ninjutsu they use and they are mostly at war. The story reveals that their was a beast by the name of Ten Tails, the master of all Chakra. The originator of Ninjutsu, The Sage of Six Paths, divides the Beast into 9 smaller beasts each classified by the number of tails it has, starting from a single and going all the way up to 9. More tails mean more powers for the beasts. These beasts are given to different nations and each appoints a Ninja who controls the Tailed Beast, the Jinchuruki. The Tailed Beasts reside within the Junchuruki and the more harmony there is between the two, the more powerful the Jinchuruki is. Naruto's dad was the Fifth Hokage, the strongest Ninja who holds a position similar to that of a King. Naruto's mom was from the Uzumaki clan. The Uzumakis were famous for their sealing techniques, they could seal all types of powers and beasts and due to this ability of theirs, they got eliminated. Naruto's mom is the 9 tails' Jinchuruki and when Naruto is born, her seal weakens and a rival clan's expatriate, Obito summons the 9 tails. Naruto's dad, being the Hokage, rushes to his village's rescue and breaks the 9 tails free from Obito because of his legendary and unique teleportation magic. Naruto's mom is already very weak and they attempt to seal the 9 tails into their newborn baby, the 9 tails is not willing to be sealed and in the climax that follows Naruto's parents get killed and the 9 tails is sealed inside of Naruto.

Naruto's journey through the world on Ninjas is illustrated by 2 seasons, Naruto Shippuden is the second season. Lately Naruto's episodes have rather been consumed by fillers and many readers prefer the manga.

One Piece

This is another good anime series. One Piece talks about a world of pirates and Navy. Pirates sail the wild seas and are famous for looting and crimes. They are apprehended by the Navy, but some are quite strong and become legendary pirates. One such is Jolly Roger, the king of Pirates. He has claimed to have hidden his treasure in a place called One Piece and many pirates scramble to reach the One Piece and become the King of Pirates after his death. There are some special types of fruits called the Devil Fruits. They all grant different powers to their eaters, but the drawback is that the eater can never swim. They always drown and a special type of stone, the Sea Prism Stone can subdue them and make them feel really weak. One such devil fruit eater is Luffy. Luffy has eaten the Gomu Gomu or the Rubber Rubber fruit. His body has amazing elasticity and can stretch to become balloons etc. Luffy's grandfather is a high ranked navy official, but Luffy wants to become a pirate. Luffy makes 2 friends, namely Ace and Sabo, and they are brothers to each other. The trio wants to become pirates, but an accident happens and Sabo is presumed dead. Ace, who is the son of the former Pirate King, embarks on a pirate journey when he becomes old enough, leaving behind Luffy who is still a child. Luffy later trains, gathers a crew in unexpected circumstances and is the captain of his own ship. Soon the world is buzzing of his name and he meets new challenges.

This anime has a strong theme of never abandoning on friends and their value in one's life. Luffy often risks his own life for his friends. The fights can be pretty long due to flashbacks, but at the end you are going to cherish the moment.
